Night Shadow, 1921, from Six American Etchings: The New Republic Portfolio published in 1924, edition of approximately 500 (Worcester, 22). Signed "Edward Hopper" in pencil l.r. Etching on paper, plate size 6 15/16 x 8 1/4 in. (17.5 x 20.9 cm),framed.
Condition: Prevalent toning and mat burn, margins over 1 inch, pale stain to image c.l., margins trimmed at all four corners, masking tape to verso along upper edge, brown paper tape at lower "corners" on verso.

The sheet mesure 9 7/8 x 13 5/8 inches. The toning to the sheet is even stronger on the reverse and shows a corregation pattern. The plate was steel-faced for its printing for the Six American Etching Portfolio.
