Fairfield, Montana, 1939, printed later. Stamped "ARTHUR ROTHSTEIN/PHOTOGRAPH/from the collection of GRACE ROTHSTEIN" in black ink on the verso l.l. with additional pencil annotations. Gelatin silver print, image size 13 5/8 x 9 in. (34.5 x 22.8 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Good.

N.B. In 1936, at the young age of 21, Arthur Rothstein became the first photographer hired by Roy Stryker of the federal government's Resettlement Administration to document the effects of the Great Depression on struggling families, as well as that agency's efforts to alleviate the economic problems facing the nation.
