Gerald L. Brockhurst (British, 1890-1978)
Two Works: Study for Decoration, 1923, edition of 76, etching (Fletcher, 46); and Head of a Girl (Anaïs, Melisande), also called Head of a Basque or Siena, 1944, lithograph (Fletcher, L2). The former dedicated "To Ben - from Brock" in pencil l.l., signed "G. Brockhurst" in pencil l.r.; the latter signed and dated "G.L. Brockhurst 1944" in pencil l.r., initialed within the matrix l.l. Sight sizes to 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. (29.1 x 21.5 cm), framed.
Condition: Decoration with possible corrugation staining and mat burn, not examined out of frames.
Head of Girl examined out of frame: Sheet measures 15 x 11 3/8 in. (38.0 x 29.5 cm). Tape remnants at all edges on the verso. Hinged at upper corners with linen tape. Toning and mat burn. Glazed with glass.
