Provenance: Descended indirectly within a Boston family to the current owner.

Under UV light, the signature appears to be reinforced or possibly added. Paint losses at u.c. just above the head of the girl in yellow, about 6 losses in all, measuring between 1/8 and 1/4 inch in diameter. Other small losses and an area of craquelure with lifting in the upper half of the dark stripe on the far right side of the curtain in the background. Stretcher bar mark across the top of the canvas.
