Four Paint-decorated Leather Fire Buckets, America, early 19th century, a black bucket with red-painted band inscribed "WALTHAM FIRE CLUB/1824/L. EMERSON.," a green-painted bucket inscribed "L. CEARY.," a light green bucket with gold band inscribed "Independent/1832/1," and a red-painted bucket with gilt banding and laurel with spreadwing eagle and flag, (imperfections), ht. to 13 1/2 in.
"L. Ceary" marked bucket has scratches and associated paint lot. The red bucket has scratches and associated paint loss, the handle is detached but present. "Waltham" marked bucket has scratches and associated paint loss, handle is broken in the middle but attached at the rings. "Independent" marked bucket has scratches and associated paint loss, mouth is out of round.
