Four Needlework Samplers, America, 19th century, the alphabet samplers stitched with silk thread on linen background, stitched inscriptions include "Sarah Elizabeth Lemis May 18th 1848," "Hanna Colburns work wrought in the eleventh year of her age," and "Remember no thy Creator in the days of thy youth Elizabeth B. Hussey 1840," unframed, (minor staining), ht. to 12, wd. 12 in.

Provenance: Collection of William H. and Susan F. Watkins.

Note: Sarah Elizabeth Lemis may have been born July 14, 1836.
