Eardley Norton Gold Pair-cased Watch, London, No. 14208, c. 1795, Roman numeral porcelain dial signed Eardley Norton/London, gold teardrop hands and bull's-eye crystal, swing-out movement with dust cover engraved Eardley Norton/London/No. 14208 opening to the full-plate chain fusee, cylinder escapement movement with finely pierced balance cock, classical urn, steel balance and diamond endstone, engraved extended foot and silvered regulating dial, inner case with faint London and gold hallmarks and 14208, outer case with two Salem, Massachusetts, watch papers: one possibly 18th century by Theodore Morgan with Masonic iconography, and a later one by Jesse Smith, Jr., on Essex Street, dia. 54 mm, 127 g.
