Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Longcase Clock, Holland, c. 1780, pitch pediment case with dentil moldings and central urn finial, marquetry and applied ebonized and light wood columns capped with brass, the glazed door over the composite brass roman numeral dial with moon's age in the arch and painted Dutch scenes, arcaded chapter ring, month, day-of-the-week, and day-of-the-month indications set on a matted and engraved center, all framed with cast brass spandrels, canted corners frame the inlaid rectangular waist door with glazed lenticle and cast-brass urn, all on a base with fluted corners, framing the marquetry and inlay, fluted base molding and feet, eight-day time, Dutch striking movement with alarm mechanism on two bells, two brass-cased weights and seconds beating pendulum, ht. 101 in.
