Edward Prior Silver Verge Watch for the Turkish Market, London, No. 63688, c. 1780, base metal outer carrying case opens to the silver pinned tortoiseshell case, revealing the engraved and chased silver case hallmarked 1770 and inner case by maker JB/WW and 1848 containing the small watch with 3 1/4-in. dia.Turkish numeral dial marked Edward Prior/London and remains of brass hands, the swing-out, verge escapement, key-wind and set movement marked and numbered by maker as above, finely pierced balance cock, foot, and silvered regulator platform, steel balance, hairspring, chain fusee and pierced scrolled pillars, all with an associated chain and chatelaine, dia. of watch and inner case 39 mm, dia. of all cases 68 mm.

Watch is probably re-cased considering the hallmarking, movement starts with winding, runs for a few minutes, only remnants of hands remain, dial with numerous hairlines, associated chain.
