British Pattern 1796 Officer's Sword and Scabbard, c. 1796, gilt-brass hilt and counterguard (missing quillon),with wire-wrapped grip and faceted pommel, engraved steel blade, leather scabbard with brass fittings, marked on the back of the throat R.JOHNSTON/late/FOSTER/sword Cutler to his/MAJESTY/St. James Strt/LONDON, blade lg. 32 1/2, overall lg. 39 in.

Provenance: Sold to benefit the preservation of the collections of the Danvers Historical Society.

Counterguard is bent up, missing the quillon, some light rust on the blade, and some folds and light leather loss on the scabbard.
