U.S. Navy Small Boat Flag, c. 1876, blue wool bunting canton, hand-sewn with white cotton stars, red and white wool bunting strips machine-sewn together, canvas hoist with hand sewn eyelets, stenciled E.E. Truesdale on both sides of the hoist, and marked 3 yd in pencil, ht. 50, lg. 98 in.
Provenance: Found in the attic of a house at the end of Delano's stone wharf on Kingston Bay, Kingston, Massachusetts.
Note: E.E. Truesdale was the superintendent of the Webster, Pembroke, and China Mills company, in Suncook, New Hampshire, from 1870-85, he also owned a general store in Suncook, was a New Hampshire State Representative in 1879-80, and was State Senator in 1887-88.
