Signal Flag from Admiral Farragut's Flagship USS Hartford, c. 1861-65, hand-sewn blue wool bunting flag with linen hoist, linen rope, and handmade wooden toggle, with a handwritten provenance note, ht. 36, lg. 48 in.

Note: A tag accompanies the lot which reads on the front: "SIGNAL FLAG/FROM ADMIRAL FARRAGUT'S/ FLAGSHIP HARTFORD," and on the back "MISS MAY F. TAYLOR/OF 4829 N. 12TH ST./PHILA. PA. STATED/THAT THE FLAG WAS/GIVEN TO HER GRAND-/MOTHER WHEN A YOUNG/GIRL, BY JAMES ISLES/WHO WAS A SAILMAKER'S/MATE ON BOARD THE/"HARTFORD" UNDER/FARRAGUT."
Flag has some light moth nips, and a small tear in the center.
