Soumak Rug, Northeast Caucasus, late 19th century, the terra-cotta field with three and a half royal and light blue diamond-shaped medallions inset with ivory totemic devices flanked by medium-sized gold stepped diamonds and octagons, small-scale stylized rosettes, eight-pointed stars, latch-hooked diamonds, and endless knot motifs, all within a zigzag-patterned main border, "running dog" outer border, 6 ft. x 4 ft. 11 in.
