Two PhurbaDaggers, Tibet, 19th/20th century, one of carved wood with three-sided blade, the grip with two bands of lotus petals, surmounted with a three-headed Mahakala and a double-knob finial, lacquered, ht. 10 1/2; and one of carved bone with three-sided blade, decorated in relief with a mask and a seated Buddha, the grip with a band of carved Buddha and two vajras, surmounted with three-headed Mahakala, without finial (probably missing),ornamented with semiprecious stone beads of turquoise blue, ht. 7 5/8 in.
