Copy after Rubens's Self Portrait of 1623. Unsigned. Oil on unstretched canvas, 10 3/16 x 8 in., framed. Condition: Lined, irregularly trimmed, abrasions, craquelure, breaks to the canvas surface, surface grime.
N.B. This work is likely based on the engraving of Rubens's self portrait of 1623 done by Paulus Pontius (Flemish, 1603-1658) in 1630. In the engraving, Rubens is shown facing right, while in the oil painting on which the engraving was based, he was facing left.
