Signed indistinctly l.r., with a Munich art materials supply stamp on the
reverse.
Oil on panel, 6 7/8 x 10 5/8 in. (17.5 x 27.0 cm),framed.
Condition: Craquelure with areas of subtle separating.

Varnish inconsistencies and allegatoring to areas of the the background landscape. Under UV there appears to be a fine network of old retouch to fill craquelure in the background, a few lines in the leaf at the u.r., and a darker area to the l.r. corner that may be dirt or old varnish, and which appears as a matte surface in raking light. There is a similar darker area just above the butterfuly in the u.c.
