Julio Le Parc (Argentine, b. 1928)
Continuel Mobile, 1966, edition of 100, published by Éditions Denise René, Paris. Unsigned. Mixed media with painted wood, nylon string, three interchangeable aluminum backdrops and six interchangeable hanging plastic elements, 39 x 15 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. (99.0 x 40.0 x 8.8 cm).
Condition: Some strings broken, some plastic elements discolored, abrasions, dust and soiling.
There is no label on the reverse; it is missing. There are 3 background, each with subtle soiling or discoloration. This is more visible on the white panel. The red panel has additional scuff marks near the upper and lower ends (beyond those caused by & hidden by the tracks that hold the panels), and is bent at the upper left corner (it can still be removed).
Of the six hanging elements only the red is in good condition. The opaque white has a detached square (bottom of the center string) and this square is in the storage box. The purple squares are all detached from their hanger, and mostly from each other. 2 of these squares are missing. Many of the purple squares are gently discolored. The silver has one square detached (but in the storage box). These squares are scuffed to different degrees. The clear has 1 string detached (but complete and in its box). The squares on this detached string are discolored. The black sting has 8 detached squares (all in their box). There are 3 squares on the left-most string that are bent; the 3rd from the top is actually creased.
