James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903)
Model Draping, c. 1889, only state, possibly from the Goulding edition of 40 printed in 1904 (Way, 31; Levy, 49; Chicago, 31). Monogrammed within the matrix. Transfer lithograph on laid paper, image size 7 7/8 x 4 5/8 in. (19.7 x 11.5 cm),framed.
Condition: Margins over 1 1/4 inches, unobtrusive toning and mat burn, pale foxing, glue/residue to margins, pencil annotations to lower margin (beneath glue) and verso.
Provenance: Descendants of the Lanier family of Indiana and New York.

The sheet measures 12 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches. It is hinged near the upper corners with additional old hinges in the same area. The glue is most prevalent to the lower margin and is all well outside of the image.
