Description:

Needlework Sampler, Harriot Patterson, England, early 19th century, worked in silk threads on a fine linen ground, composed of two rows of letters above a row of crowns and monarchical initials, with pious verse and maker's name flanked by cherubs and bowls of fruit, and pictorial scene below with house, figures, birds, and beasts, all surrounded by a flowering vine border, 14 3/4 x 12 in. (sight),in a bird's-eye maple frame.
Estimate $800-1,200

There are scattered small holes in the white field including in the alphabet area, upper edge of the text block, and in the area of the tree on the lower left.
