Attributed to Arthur Hill Gilbert (American, 1894-1970)

Old House, Vernonnet, France. Signed "ARTHUR HILL GILBERT" l.l., titled, inscribed, and dated "Old House, Vernonette [sic] France/Arthur Hill Gilbert/1927" in pencil on the reverse. Oil on canvas mounted to paperboard, 23 5/8 x 28 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Mounting bubbles l.c., signature reinforced or added later, pencil line or similar along left edge, surface grime.

Also incised "Mrs. Russell" and with a partial gummed label with typed inscription "Mrs. Fleming/Room 285" both on the reverse.
