Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Abel Brown Each signed and inscribed with subjects' names and "Springfield/Nov 1845" on the reverse, the gentleman wearing a striped vest with red floral devices, the lady wearing a bonnet with blue ribbon, each seated in front of red drapery.
Oil on canvas, 28 x 24 in., in modern black frames with gilt corner blocks joining single-arch molding and gilt liners.
Condition: Retouch, patching and minor water stains.
Estimate $1,500-2,500
areas on retouch, mostly to background but in smaller areas in the subjects' clothing. Man with patch near top edge, and central water stain; woman with two patches and water stains.
