N.B. Beginning in 1946, the artist Alice Kent Stoddard Pearson resided at the John Willey House where Sears Gallagher was a frequent visitor. A photograph of the house is reproduced in Ruth Grant Faller, Monhegan: Her Houses and Her People, 1780-1970; a photocopy of the relevant page accompanies the lot.
