Continental School, 19th Century, After Giambologna (Flemish, 1529-1608)
Mercury in Flight on a Zephyr, Inscribed "Vincenzo Livi e Figlio F. Can..." around the base. Marble, ht. 53 1/2 in., accompanied by a faux finish stone or concrete pedestal, ht. 35 1/2 in. Condition: Losses, including missing fingers from each hand, wing missing from helmet (detached, but included with the lot),caduceus missing from left hand, a large loss from the marble tree trunk support, many smaller losses, staining, weathering, and mildew; pedestal with repairs and surface losses.
