Description:

Two Blue-glazed Covered Jars with Gilt-metal Finials, China, globular, with the rim decorated with a band of metal openwork, the fitted domed cover with floral knob, ht. to 9 in.

Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire.

taller one glazed in a darker blue, dismantled into three pieces, broken into several pieces and repaired, loss of gilt, heavy dirt and rusting to metal finials.
