Pale Profile
Signed and dated [incised] "Milton Avery 1954" l.r., titled, inscribed, and dated
on brown paper tape forming the frame backing, and with Milton Avery's typed address label on the back of the frame.
Oil on artist board, 8 x 6 in. (20.3 x 15.2 cm), framed.
Condition: Small area of retouch to l.l. corner, minor surface grime.

Provenance: A private Vermont collection.

N.B. The work at hand was reviewed by Sally M. Avery of the Milton Avery Trust, who confirmed the attribution. A letter from Ms. Avery dated January 11, 1989, and a 1990 appraisal from The Gerald Peters Gallery, Dallas, Texas, accompany the lot.
