Italian School, Late 16th Century

Two Drawings: A Double-sided Drawing with a Standing Male Nude on the Recto and Adoring Male Saint
Unsigned, Saint inscribed "Timoteo Viti" in pencil l.c.
Charcoal on watermarked laid paper, sizes to 15 3/4 x 10 3/4 in. (40.0 x 27.4 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Staining, soiling, creasing, areas of thinning, hinged to the back mat in two places on the reverse.

N.B. The reverse of the Standing Male Nude bears a later drawing showing two cloaked figures in conversation, which might be after a work by Pontormo.

Standing Male Nude has a drawing of Two Cloaked Figures in Conversation on the reverse. The hinges are attached on the side with the two figures, and although these hinges are adhered in the background of the drawing at the top, they do not touch the figures themselves. There is a horizontal and a vertical crease tothe sheet, plus other random creasing to the left side of the sheet. There is a thinned spot l.l. The sheet is a laid paper with a figural watermark.

The sheet size of the Adoring Male Saint is 12 1/4 x 8 1/4 in. (31.0 x 21.0 cm),with an irregularly trimmed bottom edge.
