Louis XVI Kingwood- and Tulipwood-veneered Bureau Plat, early 19th century, the top surface with radiant veneers centering an inlaid medallion with musical instruments, above a pullout leather-inset writing surface and a long frieze drawer and two lower drawers, on tapered legs, ht. 30 1/4, wd. 46 3/4, dp. 25 3/4; together with an Edwardian painted side chair, ht. 35 3/4 in.
Writing slide, leather with usage wear scratches and abrasion, one segment of veneer possibly replaced. Veneer throughout case with dryness, cracking and some minor areas of lifting. Some loss to veneer particularly alonng drawer fronts and legs. Two caps to feet off, but present. Scattered minor nicks and abrasions consistent with age.
