Two Framed Paintings: Cargèse and Le Louvre
Le Louvre signed "Levier" l.r., signed, titled, and dated "C.Levier...1958" on the reverse; Cargèse signed l.r., titled and signed "...Ch. Levier" on the reverse, identified with the title Carguèse [sic] on a label from Van Dieman-Lilienfeld Gallery, New York, on the stretcher.
Both oil on canvas, sizes to 30 x 40 in.
Condition: Le Louvre with a tear and craquelure to l.c., both with surface grime.
"Le Louvre" measures 30 x 40 in. Tear on "Le Louvre" measures 1 1/2 inches, with the surface damage extending to 3 inches overall.
"Cargèse" measures 28 1/2 x 23 5/8 in. and bears a label from Swain's Art Store, Plainfield, New Jersey (and other locations), on the back of the frame.
