...The Magnificent Steamship The Great Western... In Commemoration of the Establishment of Steam Navigation between Great Britain and America, this engraving of the Magnificent Steam Ship the Great Western, Lieut. James Hosken, R.A. Commander, taking her departure from Bristol for New York, has been prepared. Published May 21, 1840. Aquatint engraving with hand-coloring, 23 1/8 x 31 1/8 in., unframed. Condition: Margins trimmed just outside of plate line, cleaned, and applied to paper.
