Three quarto volumes, each volume one of 1,000 copies printed, bound in uniform publisher's cloth, with slightly worn dust jackets, illustrated throughout, mostly in color, some plates folding; minor water staining affecting the first sixteen text leaves of volume three, but not the illustrations, 11 x 9 in.
Swiss collector Alfred Baur (1865-1951) acquired Chinese ceramics and other treasures from the Far East for more than forty-five years; his collection is on display at Foundation Baur in Geneva.
