First edition of the first biography of Cook, large quarto, with the portrait frontispiece, lacking the half-title; bound in full diced russia, a.e.g., rebacked, boards detached, first few signatures detached from the text block and attached to one another with glue along the gutter edge; portrait and title spotted, intermittent foxing to the text, mainly confined to the first and last few signatures, 10 3/4 x 9 in.
