First American edition, folio, illustrated with 120 photogravure plates, text is minimal, with a title page, short foreword, and a list of plates that includes the plant's Latin and common names, the anatomical part photographed, and the number of times it was magnified; bound in publisher's full teal cloth, blocked in gilt on the front board, lettered on the spine, with the dust jacket; endpaper at inner front joint cracking slightly, jacket with some edge chips, horizontal marks on the back panel, 12 1/2 x 9 1/2 in.
