Description:

Blue and White Covered Temple Jar, China, 19th century, baluster form, decorated with scholarly objects inside lobed cartouches, surrounded by hawthorn blossoms on a "cracked ice" pattern ground, also with a band of ruyi-heads at the neck and a lotus bud finial, ht. to 13 in.

Note: Collection number on base and underside of cover, Christie's sticker, Lot 85, June 29, 1987.

Provenance: From the Estate of Peter L. Rosenberg.
