Model 1840 Light Artillery Officer's Saber and Scabbard, c. mid-19th century, brass hilt cast with foliate designs, wire-wrapped shagreen grip, ricasso marked on one side PHILADELPHIA, and HORSTMANN/& SONS, engraved blade marked with foliate designs, panoply of arms, and WH/HORSTMANN/& SONS/PHILADELPHIA, and a steel scabbard with two carrying loops, blade lg. 36, overall lg. 41 1/2 in.

Sword is in overall very good condition, scabbard has some very light scattered patina.
