Model 1855 Rifle Musket, c. 1858, walnut stock with double cartouche on the left side, iron fittings and brass nose cap, lockplate marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD, and 1858, breech of the barrel marked V/P over an eagle, dated 1858, and a small 27 stamped on the barrel tang, barrel lg. 40, overall lg. 56 in.
