Samuel Galton Contract Short Land Pattern Musket, c. 1780's, walnut stock with storekeeper's stamp dated 1786, brass fittings, hand-engraved lockplate marked with a crown over SG, inside of lockplate marked SGS, flat brass sideplate, breech of the barrel stamped with a crown and crossed scepters, a crown over an 8, and SG, inside of the ramrod channel has the assembly markings and the initials HM, barrel lg. 42 1/2, overall lg. 58 3/4 in.
Stock has a few dings, nicks, and small wood loss near the swell, steel and brass parts have some light patina, lock functions properly, one sling swivel is cracked.
