Bunker Hill. Signed and dated l.c. "-DAWES- -1880-." Oil on canvas, the monument flying American flags, surrounded by brick row buildings, each identified with their commercial function, for example "STOVES & HARDWARE" and "MEN & BOYS CLOTHING," further surrounded by receding residential blocks, with steeples and likely the State House dome, all below a cloudy horizon and blue sky above, 22 3/4 x 16 1/2 in., in likely original molded walnut frame with ebonized and gilt liner. Condition: Minor retouch.
