Two Works: Lions in Profile, One After the Medici Lions
Graphite and white crayon on paper, sheet sizes to 8 1/4 x 9 3/4 in. (21.0 x 24.8 cm), both framed.
Condition: Foxing, toning, not examined out of frames.
Both drawings are affixed to their backing boards at four corners, but they are not laid down. Both are on laid paper, but we were not able to examine for watermarks, due to the way the drawings are currently mounted. For each, the backing mat boards show significant toning.
For the lion in profile: hole measuring about 3/16 inch (0.5 cm) at center top, foxing, handing creases, creasing to l.l. corner.
Lion with paw on ball: inscribed "144" in ink u.c., vertical crease through the entire sheet , located about 4 to 4-1/4 inches in from the left edge, foxing, handling creases, water staining to mat that does not affect the image.
