"Don't Buy Gas Where You Can't Use the Restroom," Bumper Sticker Campaign, 1952, printed later, edition of 35 produced for the PRC Print Program. Titled, dated, numbered, and signed "...1/35 ltd. Ed. Ernest Withers" in graphite on the verso along the bottom. Gelatin silver print, image size 8 5/8 x 10 7/8 in. (21.9 x 27.7 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Unmounted, good.

Provenance: Sold to benefit the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University.

N.B. For over fifty years, the African American photographer Ernest Withers documented black social life and the music scene on Beale Street in his home town of Memphis, in addition to capturing key moments of the Civil Rights movement.
