Rufino Tamayo (Mexican, 1899-1991)

Dos Niñas Mexicanas, 1925 (Pereda, 1). Signed "Rufino Tamayo" in pencil l.r. Woodcut on paper, image size 3 5/16 x 3 1/2 in. (8.3 x 8.8 cm),framed.
Condition: Staining u.c., not examined out of frame.

Provenance: A private New York and Massachusetts collection.

N.B. This is Tamayo's earliest documented print.

Sheet measures 7 1/2 x 5 7/8 in. Print was hinged to overmat with masking tape that remains adhered to the top of the sheet even though the overmat is no longer attached to the sheet. The sheet appears to have been attached to the mount with dry mounting material or similar that has become partially detached from the mount at top half. Slight bubbling in sheet from being the mounting material attached to it at the back. Unobtrusive scattered pin point fox marks. No additional condition to report.
