Pair of Cast Iron Figural Andirons, America, late 18th/early 19th century, each figure in exotic dress and holding a spirit bottle and goblet, (imperfections),ht. 11 1/4, lg. 14 1/2, wd. 6 1/2 in.

Note: Figure thought to represent the triangular trade among England, the Caribbean islands, and the American colonies. For another example of the form, see Donald L. Fennimore, Iron at Winterthur (Winterthur, 2004),pp. 30-1.
