Double-sided Sheet of Figure Studies
Inscribed "No. 88 Fontebasso" l.r., inscribed "No. 86 Fontebasso," "Fontebasso,"
and "Fontebase" and with two collector's marks on the reverse.
Ink on paper, 19 3/4 x 14 3/8 in. (50.0 x 36.5 cm),matted, unframed.
Condition: Small tear to l.r corner, restored tears to edges, creasing, including a prominent horizontal crease to the recto, staining, foxing, tack holes, soiling.

Collector's mark stamped or inscribed "BDelany" for Dr. Barry Delany (Irish, d.1888) on the reverse. The second mark is the initial "L" with what is probably a crown on top, stamped in blue. This mark had been attributed to Furst von Lichnowsky (Vienna and Munich,1789-1845) in the 1921 edition of Lugt (L.1707),but was later described as unidentified or as occasionally attributed to Prince F. de Ligne in the 1956 edition.
Tack holes, mended tears verso, staining, foxing, pressed center crease, trimmed sheet; paper tape hinged to wove paper sheet, paper tape along right edge verso.
