Football, c. 1940, edition of 55 plus trial proofs, published by the Federal Art Project (Brooklyn Museum, 39). Signed "Schanker" in pencil l.r., titled in pencil l.c., monogrammed within the block. Color woodcut on Japan paper, image size 9 7/8 x 13 3/4 in. (25.0 x 34.8 cm),unmatted, unframed.
Condition: Margins over 1/2 inch, minor creases and soiling to margins, white paper tape to edge of upper margin on recto.

Provenance: From the collection of WPA artist Maxwell Mandell, by descent to the current owner.

Sheet size 11 7/8 x 18 in. Pin pricks at u.l. and u.r. corners. Adhesive residue from tape along top of recto visible on verso. Unobtrusive creases at corners and along the left edge.
