Musician's Dress Coat, c. 1861-65, Model 1858 contract-made dress coat in blue twill-woven cloth, with red cloth sewn to collar, cuffs, front of coat, and back with two additional rows of buttons, muslin sleeve lining with JAMES B. BOYLAN maker's mark in left sleeve, and the initials in iron gall ink A.C.B.
Provenance: Sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College.
