Belgian Tall Clock by Andre Sauveur, Herstal, c. 1790, carved oak case topped by a domed bonnet with glazed door over the composite brass dial, pewter name boss in the arch marked Andre Sauveur a Herstal, flanked by cast brass spandrels with pewter bust inserts, scalloped, enameled, Roman numeral dial center, pierced brass hands and brass and pewter corner spandrels, carved waist door with glazed pendulum aperture, carved bombe base with scalloped apron all on claw feet, eight-day, steel, iron and brass posted frame movement with rack and snail "Dutch strike" and alarm, powered by a single cast iron weight on a "endless chain," regulated by a pendulum, ht. 99 in.
