Description:

Asa Hall Mahogany Shelf Clock, Plymouth, Massachusetts, c. 1800, the scrolled top with inlaid finial plinth, brass finials, glazed dial opening over the painted iron "kidney" dial with Roman numerals, seconds dial and signed Asa Hall/Plymouth., pierced blued-steel hour and minute hands and pointer seconds, all framed by a blue-painted dial mat, banded inlaid lower section all on ogee bracket feet, eight-day movement with train configured to register seconds, rack and snail strike, 10-in. strap brass pendulum and two lead weights with integral pulleys, ht. 36 in.
Estimate $8,000-12,000

Dial undisturbed including signature, all hands, pendulum and two weights are original, scrolled fret is possibly a very old replacement, original blue painted tin dial mat, case needs some minor regluing, minor veneer losses, object right front foot pieced out, some replacement glue blocks in the base, backboard with original recess backed by period tin.
