Aaron Willard Jr. Alarm Timepiece or "Banjo" Clock, Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1815, the mahogany case with five-piece backboard, painted iron Roman numeral dial faintly numbered and inscribed ...Willard, Jr., blued-steel barbed hands, top-mounted alarm bell, crossbanded inlaid frames enclosing reverse-painted tablets the waist glass inscribed Patent and flanked with brass side ornaments, the lower glass depicts country scene framed by a red, blue, mustard, and gold scrolled border, eight-day, time and integral alarm, brass movement die stamped at the bottom of the front plate Aaron Willard Jr./Boston., fillister head screws for case attachment, recoil escapement, and alarm train all powered by a period lead weight and regulated by a brass-faced lead-backed pendulum, ht. 33 in.
