Mahogany Cased Assayer's Kit, Freiberg, Germany, c. 1865, the dovetailed case with hinged lid having a label reading in part Augult Lingke & Co. in Freiberg, the upper fitted velvet-lined tray with bone scale marked as above and a collection of instruments, second layer reveals a hinged box with a selection of tools and instruments, the third layer having the platform and brass balance scale in a fitted box, the lower section with colorless glass jars holding appropriate chemicals for the testing of ore and minerals, wd. 11 3/4 x dp. 8 3/4 x ht. 7 3/4 in.
