Massachusetts Contract Peabody Rifle, c. 1872, serial number 2125, walnut stock with steel fittings, sling swivel plate marked MASS/2125, left side of the receiver marked PEABODY'S PATENT/JULY 22, 1862/MAN'F'D BY PROVIDENCE TOOL CO./PROV. R.I., blued steel barrel, and steel cleaning rod, barrel lg. 33, overall lg. 51 3/4 in.

Provenance: From the collection of the late Peter F. Frazier and M. Prudence Fleck.
Estimate $500-700

Overall in very good condition with some dings in stock, barrel still fairly bright blueing, some light patina on steel parts.
