Description:

Gallagher Carbine, c. 1861-65, serial number 8623, walnut stock with initials lightly carved in the butt, lockplate marked GALLAGHER'S PATENT/JULY 17TH 1860, and MANUACFTD BY/RICHARDSON & OVERMAN/PHILADA, steel barrel with rear sight, barrel lg. 22 1/4, overall lg. 39 in.

Provenance: From the collection of the late Peter F. Frazier and M. Prudence Fleck.

Stock has some dings and nicks and some wood loss just below the lockplate, steel has patina appropriate to its age.
